Dear EUPSA Members,
We are excited to announce the launch of the EUPSA CONNECT Mentorship Program, a new initiative designed to foster meaningful mentor-mentee relationships within the Pediatric Surgery community.
The Importance of Coaching and Mentorship
Research consistently shows the vital role that coaching and mentorship play in the professional development of physicians and surgeons. Studies have found that mentorship enhances career satisfaction, reduces burnout, and strengthens clinical skills and knowledge. For example, a study published in JAMA Surgery reported that mentored surgeons experienced greater career fulfillment and were more likely to stay in academic medicine. Mentorship has also been linked to increased research productivity and faster academic advancement. By joining the EUPSA CONNECT Mentorship Program – either as mentor or mentee – you contribute to a legacy of excellence and continuous improvement in Pediatric Surgery.
Program Outline
The EUPSA CONNECT Mentorship Program is designed to promote professional growth, facilitate knowledge sharing, and support both personal and professional aspirations. We aim to create mentor-mentee relationships that inspire and empower future leaders in Pediatric Surgery.

- Program Start Date: October 2024
- Mentor & Mentee Application Deadline: 30th September 2024
- Mentor & Mentee Questionnaires Deadline: 15th October, 2024
- 1:1 mentorship sessions: 1st Nov 2024 – June 2025
- Mentor development workshops: Nov 2024, Jan 2025, April 2025
